Product basic details

Use this area to view or change a product basic details.

All fields in Basic details sections have the auto-save function (update). No save button to be clicked after you edit a field.
If all good, after you change and leave a field, the field will have a light green background;
If the field was not updated, the field will have a light red background. This may be the case when you may write exact same text as before (is nothing to be updated) or your internet connection dropped. Either ways, refresh the page, re-open the edit section check if the correct information is in that particular field and try again if anything need to be changed.

After you write or change something in a field, leave the field to allow it to update itself. Click on another field to continue editing the product or anywhere outside of that field. Now you cans safety leave the page, knowing that everything is OK.


Product name

This Product name will be shown in product listing and in product details in both BACKEND and FRONTEND.
You can change here the name of the product at any time.
The editable field is a text field. You can write on only one line and no formatting is permitted. However, the text you input here will appear as heading into FRONTEND.
Try to keep it short but relevant, do not describe your product in product name.
Avoid characters like: " (double quote) or ' (single quote).


Product code

This field allows you to input a code at product level. This code can be used together with the variant code to get a more insight details about the exact item. Example: use a code for a dress model and put it together with the variant code that will indicate the color and size of the dress.

The editable field is a text field. You can use any numbers and any letters.
The product code is limited at only 5 characters.

This is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you do not use it. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area. Choose NO for Use (enable) product code ( as a container of variants)

Category(ies)

Use it to assign your product to one or more categories, change the categories.
Product is assigned to a category means that in FRONTEND, when users will click that category then your product will be shown in product listing (under that category).
Initially product is assigned to one category, you may remember that you must select a category before adding a product.
To change category/categories where this product is assigned click the blue link on name of the category. A new window which contains all the categories and subcategories you created will appear. Every single one has a check box.
To assign to a category simply check the check box, to take out this product from a category make sure the check box is not checked.

If you uncheck all the categories, it means that current product will not have a place to be displayed in FRONTEND.

The Categories window has two Close buttons (exactly as the main edit product window): one on the right top corner and one on the bottom right.
After you finished checking and unchecking the categories, just close the window.
All the checked categories will appear in Basic details one per each row. Click any of these categories if you need to change them again.

There is no save button, all is marked in database in the moment you check or uncheck a check box.


Enabled

The editable field is radio buttons controller.

Possible values:
Yes - product will be shown in FRONTEND
No - product not will be shown in FRONTEND

Set it disable if product is in draft, you are working on it but you did not finish or when, for vary reasons, it is temporary not available; for example it is not on stock and you have no idea when you will re-stock.


Currency

It is about what currency you want to assign for current product.
This means that you can have your prices (or only few of them) calculated based on other currency than your shop one. Example: You set up prices in US$ and based on exchange rates these prices will be daily computed by the system in AU$ (the default website currency) to be displayed in FRONTEND.
A base currency is most common used as supplier currency. Setting up product price using supplier currency - 100% avoid losing money because of exchange rate fluctuation.

The editable area of this field is a drop-down menu to choose only one option from: Possible values you find under currency: All currencies you have already set as base currency under Shop configuration -> Currency. More details in Currency section.
Default values: The one is setup as default base currency

- System is able to manage multiple base currencies. You can have up to 5 base currencies. See Shop configuration -> Currencies
- We name base currency any currency you may buy or sell a product.
- At a moment of time only one currency can be used on checkout and everything is converted to it. It is named "website currency" or "default base currency"
- Multiple base currency is a feature that allows you to setup for a product the price in the same currency you bought that product. It takes out from you the stress of computing product price in a specific currency and you will never lose money from exchange rate between buying currency and website currency.
- If a product has assigned prices in a base currency, caution with Price - Bulk update!

In case you did not work with multiple currencies, this field will contain the website currency. No action is required.


Supplier currency

You can have all product information in one place: Fill in edit product Basic details the Supplier currency and put the price you bought the product variant in Variants area under the Supplier price. It will be very handy when you plan on specials and so on.

If you enable Supplier currency, you will need to setup this currency as being Based currency because the Base currency is updated are updated automatically by the system each day. Alternatively, you can force the system to update the currency rates by clicking the blue button Update rates found under Shop configuration -> Currencies.
You can setup up to 5 Based currencies in Shop configuration -> Currencies by replacing 0 (zero) with 1 in Base column in the corresponding currency row.

The editable area of this field is a drop-down menu to choose only one option from: Possible values you find under currency: All currencies you have already set as base currency under Shop configuration -> Currency. More details in Currency section.
Default values: None, not mandatory to select. Use it only for applicable products.

Supplier currency is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you do not use it. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area. Choose NO for Use (enable) supplier currency and price

Has tax

The Has tax field name will be followed by the name of your tax name set under Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Tax area in Tax name field.

If not all products you are selling have tax, this is the place where you have the flexibility of including or excluding the tax from product prices.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if the current product is taxable. Choose No if this product is tax excepted. Consult your accounting records to determine which products are tax excepted.
The default value of Has tax field is Yes. Change it if applicable.

Has tax is an optional field.

You can hide this field if your company is tax payer. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Tax area. Choose NO for Tax payer

Tax value (%)

Here is recorded the percentage of the tax that will be applied on product prices.
This option is implemented for products that have different than usual tax percent required by law.
The default tax value (%) will be the value setup in Shop configuration -> Settings & layout -> Tax -> Tax value (%) field.

The editable area of this field is a text field which allows you to input the percentage value of current product tax.

Tax value (%) is an optional field.

You can hide this field if your product do not different tax percentage applied on their prices. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Product details area. Choose NO for Admin - show product tax value
To start using it and showing into Product details go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Product details area. Choose YES for Admin - show product tax value

If you set your company as not tax payer, Tax value (%) will not be shown.


Available/visible for

This is the place where you set up the users access level at product level. Access level is visibility for a group of users (a product can be seen by a group of users).

How it works: It is easy and quick!
If you decide that you need to have products which can be seen only by a certain category of users based on their login details, than you definitely need to work with access levels.
First need to enable the access level (see below)
Second, create the access levels you need (give a name to each access level you need) (see Shop configuration -> Access levels)
After that, you assign the access levels created to all applicable users (check the box next to applicable access level name) (see Customers)
Finally, you assign each applicable products to their corresponding access levels (check the box next to applicable access level name) (current field under edit product - Basic details ). From now on you will assign the product visibility for each new product.

The access level feature will take effect when user is Log in. Users which are NOT Log in will have Consumers visibility. Consumers is the default access level.
When a product is added, the Consumers access level is automatically assigned to it. Make the changes you need when you edit the product to input product details. You can have products available for other level access but not for Consumers by unchecking the Consumers access level.

Different access level can be setup at any time, but you need to consider that you will need to review all your current products up to the moment you add a new access level and to assign the new access level to ones which are affected by this. For bulk updates directly into database you need to ask for our assistance.

The editable field of this field is check box controller. Check the box next to groups of users to allow access and uncheck the box if you do not want to grant access. In most cases you will have to select multiple user categories to grant access.

Available/visible for is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you do not need access levels. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Global (system wide) area. Choose NO for Use access levels
To start using it and showing into Product details go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Global (system wide) area. Choose YES for Use access levels

Note:
If you have not setup any special access level then this field will not be shown and your product is visible to all users, logged in or not.
If here there are available access levels, please make sure at least one check box is checked, otherwise your product will NOT be visible into website at all even it is enabled.
A product can have more than one access levels (Available/visible for multiple users groups).


Brand

Each product can be assigned to a brand / manufacturer.
This field is named generic in BACKEND Brand. You will be able to change the label of this generic brand field for the FRONTEND. (see Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Product details: Product description - brand / manufacturer label and in Sidebar: Sidebar brands box title area.)
The meaning of assigning a brand to a product stays in prestige and users may choose to browse / shop based on brands.

The editable field of this field is a drop-down menu which contains all brands you did setup earlier.
Select the brand of the current product from dropdown. One product can have only one brand, of course. If a brand is disabled and has a product is assigned to it, the only result is that the product will not be found in frontend when users shop by brands, because its brand is not displayed. Same result for products without a brand assigned (there is no shop by brand option for these products).

The Brand appear in FRONTEND under Product details in Description tab at the top on a highlighted streak.

Brand is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you sell only your products or if you choose so. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area. Choose NO for Use (enable) brands

Model

This field is a text field where you can write the model of the current product.

The Model appear in FRONTEND under Product details in Description tab at the top on a highlighted streak.

This is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you sell only your products or if you choose so. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area. Choose NO for Use (enable) product model

Unit measure(um)

This field is a text field where you can write the Unit measure of the current product.

The Unit measure appear in FRONTEND under Product details in Description tab at the top on a highlighted streak.

This is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you sell only your products or if you choose so. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area. Choose NO for Use (enable) unit measure

Show [Quote Request] tab

Show or hide for individual products the Quote Request tab in FRONTEND on product detail page.
If you have product for which you receive quote requests, this tab will provide you with an out of the box quote request form.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if you need the current product to display the Quote Request tab.
Choose No if you do not want to display the Quote Request tab on Product details page in FRONTEND.
The default value of Show [Quote Request] tab field is Yes. Change it if applicable.

This is an optional field.

You can hide this field if you sell only your products or if you choose so. To do that go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Product request quote area. Choose NO for Enable product quote request (show Quote Request tab in product details)
To start using it and showing into Product details go to Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Product request quote area. Choose YES for Enable product quote request (show Quote Request tab in product details)


Free shipping

If you have products which you want to promote as Free shipping products, use this field. The Free shipping products which will not be considered in shipping estimation and computation.

All Free shipping products are market in FRONTEND (in products listing and product detail page and in Free shipping page) with a green track symbol followed by Free word.

It is a dedicate page for free shipping products if you consider to display it. Search for free shipping in Settings & layout under the Shop configuration to find all the areas where you can customize this feature.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if you need the current product to display the Quote Request tab.
Choose No if you do not want to display the Quote Request tab on Product details page in FRONTEND.
The default value of Show [Quote Request] tab field is Yes. Change it if applicable.


Call for price

If you have any products which you want to display in FRONTEND without having prices, the Call for price is the way to create these products.
Call for price is a generic name for products without prices. You will be able to change the label of this generic Call for price field for the FRONTEND. (see Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products listing: Call for price - label and Product details: Call for price - label.)

All Call for price products are marked in FRONTEND (in products listing and product detail page) with a yellow envelop symbol followed by the label you set in Products listing and with a grey envelop symbol followed by the label you set in Product details.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if the current product will not have a price.
Choose No if the price are to be displayed on Product details page in FRONTEND.
The default value of Call for price field is No. Change it if applicable.


Show as "featured"

This field will help you to mark the products you intend to mark as featured. It is a promotional tool and it is a page dedicated to featured products in FRONTEND is you consider to display it.
The featured products are marked with a pink hart In products listing and product detail page.

It is a dedicate page for featured products if you consider to display it. Search for featured in Settings & layout under the Shop configuration to find all the areas where you can customize this feature.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if the current product you want to be featured.
Choose No if the current product is not a featured product.
The default value of Call for price field is No. Change it if applicable.


Show as "upcoming"

You can list in your website product which you intend to sell in near future and you want to obtain anticipated publicity for it.
These products can be listed with prices and even can be bought, but the user has displayed the calendar icon with the upcoming date in product details and in shopping cart and its invoice warning him about delivery date.

It is a dedicate page for upcoming products if you consider to display it. Search for upcoming in Settings & layout under the Shop configuration to find all the areas where you can customize this feature.

The editable area of this field is a radio buttons controller:
Choose Yes if the current product is an upcoming product.
Choose No if the current product is not an upcoming product.
The default value of upcoming product field is No. Change it if applicable.


Upcoming date

When you choose Yes for an upcoming product a new field will appear asking you to input an Upcoming date which will be displayed along with the calendar icon.
The user is warned about the upcoming date: it will be displayed a calendar icon with the upcoming date in product details and in shopping cart and its invoice to avoid misunderstanding about delivery date.

When upcoming date is current date, the product became a normal product and its marks will disappears along with the comment about upcoming date.

The editable area of this field is a calendar which will assist you in choosing the upcoming date by choosing the month ad clicking a day. After you choose the day, the calendar is closing. The field will autocomplete with your chosen date.
This field do not allow you to write direct into the field. You can alter an existing date by clicking again into the field and will appear the calendar to assist you. Choose the correct date.

The Upcoming date will be showing for upcoming products.


Show order

Show order is a field based on which the products can be ordered within a category (the lower number is displayed first).
This field is optional, if empty chronological order is displayed (first added first displayed).
It is recommended to use sequences of 10s, 100s and so on, because in future you may need to insert a new product between two existent ones. In this way, you do not need to reorder the products, just assign to the new product a number in between the two existent products numbers.

For your convenience this ordering function can be manipulated without editing the product, directly on products listing.


Recorded info

Recorded info is just informative, telling you when current product was created and when was last updated.

This field is not editable, you cannot change it.
It is not shown in FRONTEND.

Base on created date the products will appear in New products page and will have the red label of a bell and new beside the bell.
