Upload / Browse product attachments

Use this area to view/change the files attached to current product.

When you click Attach file or Attach thumbnail image buttons, a new window opens to allow you to upload the attachment from your device or to browse the files existing on server. Same window will open for Change attached file and Change thumbnail buttons.

Add one file for each attachment. You will have as many attachments as many file you want to attach to a product.
Each attachment can have one or multiple access levels. Do not multiply same attachment just to allow different access levels.

Upload attachment

When you click on Attach file or Change attached file, a new window will open to allow you to upload the file you need to attach to current product.
The attachment can be an image, a pdf or a zip file.

You have two ways to upload the attachment from your device:

  • Click Upload from local device red button and choose the attachment you want to upload: an explorer will open to assist you in find the file on you device. When you find the file on your device, click on it and then click open button from your explorer.
  • Drag and drop the file into this section: Find the file on your device and drag it over the upload rectangle (where the red Upload from your local device button and surrounding area marked with a rectangle)

The system will do following operations at once if there are no uploading errors:

  • upload the file
  • will close the files manager window
  • will assign the file uploaded to current attachment

Upload thumbnail image

When you click on Add thumbnail image or Change thumbnail, a new window will open to allow you to upload the image you need to attach to current product attachment.
You can upload here only an image.

You have two ways to upload the image from your device:

  • Click Upload from local device red button and choose the image you want to upload: an explorer will open to assist you in find it on you device. When you find the image on your device, click on it and then click open button from your explorer.
  • Drag and drop the image into this section: Find the image on your device and drag it over the upload rectangle (where the red Upload from your local device button and surrounding area marked with a rectangle)

The system will do following operations at once if there are no uploading errors:

  • upload the image
  • will close the files manager window
  • will assign the image uploaded to current attachment

If you upload an thumbnail image for an attachment, this thumbnail will be displayed as attachment thumbnail in FRONTEND followed by the name of the attachment or file name.
If you choose not to assign an thumbnail image to an attachment, the default attachment thumbnail will be displayed: the pdf file thumbnail for PDF document, the archive thumbnail for zip file or the actual small image if the attachment is an image.
Uploading an image for an attachment is recommended because you give a clue to users of what the attachment contains before they open it.


Uploading errors

There are some restrictions for images uploaded as mentioned under the Upload from your local device button

  • File extensions allowed: jpeg,jpg,png
  • File size allowed up to: 20Mb

This extensions file are cleaner and safer (website security concern). The file size will more than enough for big nice images and will protect you against wasting the space on your server.

Only one file can be uploaded at a time.


Browse files

If the file is already uploaded on server, then you need to find it and assign to current attachment.

Click the Browse file tab in file manager.
In Browse file tab you will find following:

  • The page title appears on top left and includes the title Add / change image for Product files: followed by the product name and its ID.

  • When you come in Browse files as result of clicking on Attach file or Change attached file the file manager is showing All formats.
    When you come in Browse files as result of clicking on Add thumbnail image or Change thumbnail the file manager is showing Images only because only with image you can replace the default thumbnail file.

  • The areas where the file was uploaded. Default is showing the Products attachments as your current area now. You can choose another area from dropdown menu.

  • The Search area where you can search the file based on its name.

  • The Files listing will be displayed under this tab, showing the first 10 files in chronological order (first file shown is the last file uploaded).

  • Show more button will display a bunch of 10 files each time you click it.
    Show more button appears on the bottom left. It appears only the File listing has more than 10 images.

  • Show all button will display all file.
    In case you have many files (hundreds or thousands), the list may be too long and may take a while to be displayed. You may be happier with the results of Show more button.

  • Close button will close the file manager canceling the add file process.
    Close buttons are: a cross on right top opposite to the page title and close button on bottom of file manager.

Search file

Enter into the search box what you are looking for and press Enter key or click on green magnifier icon.
The system will look to match your search string in name of the files. It is an autocomplete search box, it means:
- once you start typing will be automatically shown in a drop down all available options
- you can select one of available options and click green button or press Enter key; The selected option only will be shown in listing as search result.
- or you can anytime press Enter key or click on green button and you will get in search results all files that match your search string.


Files / Images listing

In Files listing you can sort the files by clicking one of the following headings:

  • File / image name alphabetical sort
  • Size ascending sort
  • Date chronological sort
  • # ascending sort

You can sort listings ascending and descending for all fields that has headers in blue with underlined text when click on it once and after that once again.


Edit file

You can edit / view the file before deciding if it is the one to be assigned to the current attachment.

If you click on image thumbnail, image name or the edit icon in file list you will Edit file (view) that particular file.
A new pop-up window will display you the Edit file page. If the file is a pdf, you will have the preview of that PDF.
The light blue download icon button (at right side of the images) will open a new tab on your browser displaying the original file you uploaded on server. Here you can save the file on your device.
You can close the Edit file from one of the close buttons: a cross on top right of the window or the Close white button on the right bottom.


Edit image

You can edit / view the image before deciding if it is the one to be assigned to the current file attachment.

If you click on image thumbnail, image name or the edit icon in file list you will Edit image (view) that particular image.
A new pop-up window will display you the image with all three images that the system create every time you upload an image to optimize the image display in FRONTEND (optimizing the time to load a page).
The light blue download icon button (at right side of the images) will open a new tab on your browser displaying the original image you uploaded on server. Here you can save the file on your device.
You can close the Edit file from one of the close buttons: a cross on top right of the window or the Close white button on the right bottom.


Assign file to attachment from Browse files

At the right of each file row in File list it is an green + button. Click on it in chosen file row to assign that file to the current attachment.

After you click on the green plus symbol on Browse files tab, three things happen:

  • the Browse files tab closes
  • the file is assigned to attachment
  • the thumbnail (default file thumbnail) is shown in Edit product attachment window

At the right of each image row in File list it is an green + button. Click on it in chosen image row to assign that image as thumbnail to current file attachment.

When you click on Add new file button, a new window Edit product attachment will open to assist you.

When you edit an existing attachment the Attach file and Add thumbnail image buttons will be replaced with Change attached file and Change thumbnail buttons.
Also, the Delete attachment file and Delete thumbnail buttons are displayed in case you need them.
