Options are optional to be filled in.
Options are a classic way of creating variants for the product (a product with more than one sizes, colors, configurations, fragrances and so on).
Using Options into the website offers huge flexibility (easy database sorting of all products and their variants based on any of these options). The downside of the Options is that they need to be added manually into the website, which means that they are time consuming.
Options are the first step in building the variants of your product. In most cases a product can have different colors or sizes or fragrances and so on. To make possible it possible for clients to choose exactly what he need, the frontend has to display these colors or sizes or fragrances and so on (the variants).
In case you have a product which has no variant, you may skip the Options section and go directly to Variants section (see Variants section).
The system allows you to have products which have products with Options added in classic way and products without Options. The choice is yours (See Settings available for products -> Way to create product variants (options strict=1, options none = 2, mixed = 3)).
Use minimum possible of option combinations to make it easy for customers to understand exactly what they buy.
Option Name is the option label for the choices the customers will have to make.
Ass the first Option name by following the steps bellow:
After you added the option name automatically will appear the Option value field to assist you adding the Option values corresponding to current Option name.
Along with Option value field will appear the Add to product / Add value and Clear & select another option buttons.
Add option value to the current Option name:
Multiple selections can be made by writing the option values comma separated.
If you use comma in your option value, the system will consider them as multiple option values selection. It will not be considered one option value and will separate your option name in multiple records where the comma appear.
The Clear & select another option button is used when you finish adding the values for the first option name and you need another options to be added.
When you clear the first set of options, you will be prompted with an empty Option name text box to enter another Option name.
Repeat these steps as necessary.
When you add the Option values, new records will be added to the matrix.
After you added the first option value, a new section will be displayed under Options value fields: the Option matrix based on which are build the variants.
The Option matrix is the list of the Option names and their corresponding Option values.
The Option name is the label for its corresponding Option values.
Under Option name the Options value will arrange themselves in line one after the other. Each of the option values are associated with a radio button and a delete button.
To create a variant proceed as following:
Repeat the steps above as needed.
If you did not select one Option value from each Option name, an error message will be display. Click Ok button or close the window and fix the mistake.
If you choose a combination that is already used in existing variant under same product, an warning massage will be display. You can click either Ok button or cross button on this warning window to continue.
When you create variants, each variant created will show in the right half of your window in a table format (the Variants table).
This table has a heading to explain the column content: Variant code & Variant name.
The Variants table in Option section and Variants section is synchronized: any change in one of this areas, will propagate in the other.
Above sentence is true for variants added via options. If a variant was created free style, will have no effect on Variants table (see Variants section).
When you have created a variant, you was asked to input the code of the variant. This code field is an optional field: you can choose to ignore it or you can choose to fill it up.
If you have chosen to ignore it, you can change your mind and fill it up later in here (write the code in the corresponding line of the variant) or in Variant section (see Variants section).
In case you want to change a variant code, you can do this here in the Variant table by correcting the code in the box provided. Alternatively, you will be able to change the code in Variants section.
The Variant code is the only field you can change in Variants table, apart from deleting the whole record.
The Variant name is made from Option Name combined with Option value, repeated as many combinations there are. The combinations are separate between them by a vertical line (|).
So, the Variant name will identify exactly the combination from which the variant resulted.
The Variant name cannot be changed.
Create Variants only for the available combination.
It is not required to create a variant which you will not sell, just to fill the list.
You cannot rename the variants, but you can delete them.
To delete a variant from variants table proceed as following:
A record deleted can be recreated afterwards by selecting the options combination again in option matrix and click the Add as variant button (at the bottom of option matrix).
You may need to make changes to Options after initial setup.
To delete any of the Option value just click on the red delete icon button next to that Option value.
Only the Option values which were not used yet to make a variant can be deleted.
If the Option value is used in making a variant, an error message error will be displayed to let you know that you cannot delete that Option value.
You should delete all variants created with an option value if applicable before you can delete that option value.
Deleting an Option value from option matrix does not mean that it will be deleted from the system. The Option Value deleted here is just dissociated from current option matrix.
You can add new option values to an existing option name at any time.
To create new option values to existing option name after the variants where created, you need to:
Add a new Option name with Option value(s)
To add an new option name after the variants table was created, it is only possible if you destroy the existing variants table and recreating it again after you add the new option name.
