Use this area to view/change a product variant stock.
Each variant has its own edit button.
You need to fill in the stocks for each individual variant.
The variants are the containers for prices, stock, special prices and prices breakdown by quantity and variant code.
All fields have the auto-save function (update). No save button to be clicked after you edit a field.
After you write or change something in a field, leave the field to allow it to update itself. Click on another field to continue editing the variant or anywhere outside of that field.
All areas are collapsible. Their names are buttons with close / open functionality.
When the area is closed, clicking the area name button will open it and vice versa when the area is open clicking the area name button will close the area. In this way you keep on your screen only the areas you need and collapse the ones you do not need to manage efficient the working space.
Stock min, Allow backorder and Notify min is
Based on your business model, the website can be setup to work with stock or you do not keep stock. In case you keep stock, you may choose to allow backorders or not.
The stock is displayed in FRONTEND only for product variants which are running low as warning for user that delays in delivery may be expected:
Also, if you do not allow backorder, you can customize the Out of stock message.
The stock is built in mind with more than one warehouse and the stock will be kept for each warehouse (feature which will became available in future).
For now, the Warehouse is meant to be the Company location (you have only one warehouse).
Stock text area is the place where the stock for each variant is kept and can be updated in case you have some sells outside of the website OR you receive new stock for current variant.
For sells done though the website the Stock will be automatically updated.
To use stock or not, you can customize from Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Global (system wide) area. Choose YES for Use products stock - global switch if you keep track of stock.
Choose NO for Use products stock - global switch if you do not want to keep track of the stock.
Bulk update for Stock is available if all variants have setup a unique code (see Code area in this section).
Stock min (minimum) is the level of stock which require new supply. You decide which is that level and once setup, only if you need to change it you will touch this field again.
This Stock minimum is linked with the message regarding stock which appear in frontend for customers.
You can set the website to display the available stock when the stock is under the min stock set for current variant. This will help the customer to choose the quantity he/she orders and make him/her to act prompt. Under Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Cart/checkout area, choose Items left if stock <= stock min. Leave empty to do not show it field to input your message.
Allow backorder – Yes: means to allow customers to order without you having the stock available just now.
By selecting No your customers will not be able to order more than the available stock (classic way of working an ecommerce).
Default seating is No.
If you do not accept backorders and the product variant is out of stock, you can set the massage for your customers under Out of stock label (item cannot be ordered) field (Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area).
If you accept backorders and the stock is very limited, you can set the massage for your customers under Back order label (stock <= 0) field. (Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Products area)
In case you work with backorders, you can setup messages for items out of stock: under Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Cart/checkout area. Choose Cart & checkout - out of stock products - backorder available field to input your custom message which will appear on order under the item in question.
For product variant with limited stock, set the partial delivery delay message under Cart & checkout - in stock items message (leave empty do not show) in same area (Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Cart/checkout area).
In case you do not accept backorders, you can setup messages for items with limited stock (the quantity was adjusted) to let user know what is happening: under Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Cart/checkout area. Choose Cart & checkout - out of stock products - NO backorder field to input your custom message which will appear on order under the item in question.
Also, you can setup messages for items out of stock (the item was deleted from order) to let user know what is happening under Cart & checkout - out of stock products deleted - no backorder field in same area (Shop configuration -> Settings & layout select from dropdown menu the Cart/checkout area).
Notify min – Yes: is about you (shop admin) receiving an email from the system when the stock reaches the Sock minim setup.
If selection is No the system will not send these emails.
Default is No.
You can update manually the stock by modifying the stock of the current product variant. This may be the case if you have very few sales outside of this website (Ex.: Cash Sales).
For frequent stock update, the Update -> Stock option is recommended, option which can deal any amounts of stock changes.
