Unblock website IP on Office 365

This article is intended to help you understand and unblocking your website IP address when you are using Office 365 to manage your emails.

Problem

You buy a domain name for your business with the intend of having a website and emails addresses to communicate with your contacts. It is possible to have your website hosted on a server and emails to be managed by another server. This will be the case if you decide to have your emails with Microsoft or Google.
The problem will appear when you want to send emails from the designated server for emails, but you need to send emails from your website as well.

First scenario: Office365 is managing the domain name
The Office 365 is managing the emails and delegate the VPS to manage the website.
The VPS has Email server itself and the website will send the emails throughout this email server.
Office 365 verify the IP address from where the emails were sent. The emails originate from VPS IP address and not from Office365's IP address, so the Office 365 block the VPS's IP address as not being legitimate.

Second scenario: VPS is managing the domain name
The VPS is managing the website and delegate another server to manage the emails (Google or Office 365).
The VPS has Email server itself and the website will send the emails throughout this email server.
The emails sent by website throughout the VPS's emails server will have a different IP address then the server designated to send emails (Google or Office 365). Because of this, the email sent by website is dropped as not legitimate.

What is the Office 365 blocked senders list?

Microsoft uses the blocked senders list to protect its customers from spam, spoofing, and phishing attacks. Because the email server of the VPS is not validated, the email appear to be not legit.

You will know you have been added to the list when you receive a response to a mail message that includes an error that looks something like this:
550 5.7.606-649 Access denied, banned sending IP [IP address]; To request removal from this list please visit https://sender.office.com/ and follow the directions. For more information please go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=526653.
where IP address is the IP address of the computer on which the mail server runs.

Remove your VPS's IP address from the blocked senders list

To use the Office 365 delist portal to remove yourself from the blocked senders list

1. In a web browser, go to https://sender.office.com.

2. Follow the instructions on the page. Ensure that you use the email address to which the error message was sent, and the IP address that is specified in the error message. You can only enter one email address and one IP address per visit.

3. Click Submit.
The portal sends an email to the email address that you supply.

4. Click the confirmation link in the email sent to you by the delisting portal.
This brings you back to the delist portal.

5. In the delist portal, click Delist IP.
After the IP address is removed from the blocked senders list, email messages from that IP address will be delivered to recipients who use Office 365. So, make sure you're confident that email sent from that IP address won't be abusive or malicious; otherwise, the IP address might be blocked again.
